The basics
What is Client Financing?
Client Financing is a customer financing platform for businesses that sell services and programs. One application connects your customer to a waterfall of 17 BNPL and consumer lenders, plus Everyone Is Approved programs, and, if you choose, to your own payment plans through LMPP, so every customer has an affordable way to pay.
How does the lending waterfall work?
Your customer fills out one application. It goes to the top tier of lenders first, usually prime lenders with the lowest rates. If they can't approve it, it moves to the next tier, and so on, down to Everyone Is Approved programs and any LMPP programs you've set up.
Can every customer really be approved?
When your waterfall includes an Everyone Is Approved program, every customer who completes the application receives an offer. These programs come from partner lenders, or you can build your own on LMPP.
Which industries do you work with?
Coaching and online education, medical services, professional services, home improvement, trade and vocational schools such as welding, HVAC and CDL programs, and hair and beauty schools. If you sell a high-value service, we'd like to hear from you.
Getting paid
How do I get paid when a lender approves my customer?
The lender funds the sale and you're paid upfront. The lender then services the loan with your customer.
How do I get paid on LMPP?
Weekly. Customers pay into our settlement account and you receive 90% of every cleared payment. There are no merchant fees and no per-transaction fees.
What if I need cash sooner on LMPP?
After a customer makes 4–6 on-time payments, the contract becomes eligible for purchase. We'll offer 60–80% of the remaining principal, and you decide whether to sell. Merchants with 6+ months in business, 6+ months on LMPP and a portfolio of $1M or more can also qualify for a line of credit of 1.5–4 times their portfolio from a lending partner.
Is there a long-term contract or minimum volume?
No. There's no long-term contract and no minimum volume.
LMPP programs
What is LMPP?
The Lender Managed Payment Plan lets you offer your own payment plans. You design the programs and set the interest rates. Client Financing originates each plan and handles agreements, disclosures, billing, servicing and collections.
What can I control in a program?
Amounts, terms, down payments (none, a percentage or a fixed amount), 0% and same-as-cash promotions, early payoff discounts, which credit tiers are approved, the interest rate for each tier, and what declined customers see.
What interest rates can I charge?
From 0% to 29.99%, set by you for each credit tier. You might offer your best-credit customers a low rate and charge more for customers with challenged credit.
Where does LMPP go in my waterfall?
Anywhere you want. Most merchants start by putting LMPP at the bottom to catch customers their lenders decline, then move more deals to it over time.
Who handles collections?
Our in-house, US-based team, bilingual in English and Spanish. Automatic retries recover temporary card declines, and our team works every late account, so your staff doesn't have to.
Is LMPP available in every state?
Yes. State-specific rate and term rules are applied automatically.
Your customers
How do my customers apply?
Through a co-branded application you share by link, embed on your website or complete with them in person. They apply, e-sign and set up payments in one flow.
Can customers manage their own plan?
Yes. In the customer portal at account.clientfinancing.com they can check their balance and history, get an instant payoff amount and reschedule a payment within rules you set.
Can a customer pay off early?
Yes, anytime. On LMPP you can also offer an early payoff discount.
